Respiration provides the body with oxygen and removes carbon dioxide waste. This full motion video program explains what the respiratory system is, as well as describing the function of its different parts, particularly the lungs, nose, trachea, bronchi, alveola, larynx and pharynx. Also examined is how the respiratory system interacts with other body systems, the steps of the breathing process and factors such as activity levels that affect the respiratory rate. Different problems and ailments (such as smoking) that affect the respiratory system are also covered.
