Curriculum

The dance unit is part of our Physical Education program as suggested by The New York State Curriculum, and is of equal importance to all other units. The objective of the unit is to provide a means for creative and expressive movement. Dance also provides students with unique opportunities for social interaction, and can become a lifetime activity. Each day a class is chosen as the outstanding dancers, and is named “Dancers of the Day.” Dancers of the day are selected based upon participation, cooperation, and dancing skills. An award plaque is presented to the classroom teacher to display for the following day. Students are also presented with "Dancers of the Day” certificates.
