Resources from Outside DHS

The following resources  are also available for students to use.

Dansville Public Library: http://owwl.pls-net.org/

World Cat: http://worldcat.org/

The Public Library has many resources that are not duplicated in the High School Library. Also, when searching for materials for your topic of interest, materials available from other Public Libraries. These materials may be borrowed through Inter-Library Loan (ILL). A valid library card is needed.

NYS NOVEL Databases: http://novelnewyork.org

NYS purchases access to a variety of databases from both EBSCO & GALE. These databases are very helpful in completing assignments and in researching topics that interest you. To access the databases you will need either a valid library card or a NYS State Drivers (or non-Driver’s) Photo ID Card.

After opening the link, choose how you will access the databases (either library card or driver’s license) and follow the directions.

Note: Dansville is a part of the “Pioneer Library System.”

Genesee Valley BOCES Inter-Library Loan: http://schoolcat.library.net/

Dansville CSD is affiliated with the Genesee Valley BOCES. Through this consortium, we have the ability to borrow materials from other Libraries. They also have access to our collection as well.

Students may search this catalog for materials that they are interested in. When a material is found, the following information must be presented to Mr. Ptak: The Title & Author of the material. Mr. Ptak will then request the material from another school.

Note the following guidelines for borrowing materials:

1.      Materials may be borrowed for 28 days & then must be returned.

2.      Students are responsible for 100% of the replacement cost for any lost or damaged materials.

Please remember the following: Our ability to borrow materials from other Libraries/Schools is dependent upon how responsible students are with borrowed materials. The Loaning Library has the ability to refuse to loan the material. Use this resource carefully & responsibly.
