Overview of Business Law:
This one unit course is designed to introduce students to the concepts that apply to both business and personal activities and transactions. Important topics of business law include sales, agency and employment, bailments, credit, negotiable instruments, and business associations. Important topics of personal law include juvenile justice, consumer law, family law, housing law, and individual rights and liberty.
Law for Business and Personal Use 16E maintains a fundamental emphasis

Class Materials:
The following items will be needed by the student and must be brought to class on a daily basis:

Attendance:
Good attendance is a must! If you are legally absent, it is your responsibility to contact me the day you return to school, for any missed work. Students absent the day of a quiz or test will have one (1) week to make arrangements with the teacher to complete the quiz or test. If you know in advance that you will be missing a class due to a music lesson, club activity, sports activity, field trip, etc., you must see me before you miss the class to arrange a time to make-up any assignments in order to receive full credit. Please make an effort to be on time for class. If you are continually late to class without a late pass the following consequences will occur:
1st time late to

Expectations:
All students are expected to follow the codes of conduct as explained in the Dansville High School Student Handbook. Less than expected behavior would result in the following consequences:
1st

Business Law à Grading Procedure
Evaluation:
Class Activities and Participation, Homework, Vocabulary, and Worksheets................ 50%
Chapter Tests, Unit Exams, Projects ........................................................................... 50%
Assignments and Homework:
Completion of assignments and homework is expected. The point value will vary from 10 to 100 points and will be announced at the time of the assignment. Homework assignments are due at the beginning of class. Students absent the day an assignment is due are expected to hand in the assignment the next day he/she returns to school, to receive full credit. Homework assignments may be turned in late for reduced credit according to the following schedule:
1st school day
late................... 75% of grade
2nd school day late................... 50% of grade
3rd school day late.................... 0% of grade
Tests:
Tests are usually given at the end of a chapter, unit or category of material. Each test is worth 100 points unless otherwise stipulated prior to announcing the test. Students absent the day of a test will have one week to make arrangements with the teacher to complete the test. Failure to do so will result in a grade of 0%
Projects:
Throughout the year projects will be assigned. A project may consist of a poster, presentation, report related to assigned material, etc… The amount of points counted for a project will be provided at the time the project is assigned. The due date for the project will also be provided at the time the project is given. In addition, points may be assigned for rough draft and projects are broken into categories or specific assignment of points for each category.
