2006 Career Day

The 2006 Dansville Middle School Career Day was a great success, thanks to the many community members who volunteered their time and energy to teach our eighth grade students about their respective careers. Each presenter discussed the following areas regarding their professions:

Roles, duties, and responsibilities
Description of a typical workday
Work conditions, including work schedule and work environment
Use of equipment, tools, and/or advanced technology
What experiences, education, and skills are needed for this career
Personal attributes, qualities, and competencies an employee needs
Entry-level positions for this career area
Importance of good communication skills
Places to receive initial training for this position
Future career opportunities in the career field
The pay range for the career locally and elsewhere
Entry level pay
Impact of middle school education on the specific career
Likes and dislikes of the career
Qualities of a good employee in the career field

Every presenter had a significant impact on our 8^th grade DMS students, and helped to shape their career interests and exploration for their high school careers and beyond.
