Recorders for Second Graders
Second Graders learn
1. how to hold the instrument
2. how to clean and sterilize the mouthpieces with the Osha recommended Sterisole Germacide.
3. how to play 5 notes – GABCD
4. how to play the chorus to Jingle Bells
Materials we use for this unit are,
1. recorders for each student.
2. cotton balls and the solution called Sterisol Germacide.
3. pictures of the 5 notes on the bulletin board and where they fall on the musical staff. To then be used to compose their own melody on the recorder as one of the culminating activities to this unit.
Students also demonstrate that they can play the chorus to Jingle Bells using the 5 notes they have learned.
