We cover:
accurate and in tune singing, individually and as a group
songs accompanied by rhythmic and body movements
free rhythmic responses, clap, snap, etc.
rote singing
nursery rhymes
rounds, canons, echo songs
age appropriate songs
songs in major and minor keys
seasonal songs
songs that are related to classroom teachers units and their reading series
Melody -- we look at:
direction, up and down (K-2)
register, high and low (K-2)
intervals, steps and leaps (1-2)
Form
beginnings and endings

ABA e.g. Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. (K-2)
AABA e.g. Santa Claus Is Coming To Town. (2)
We also study the elements of music, melody, rhythm, form, harmony, and tone color.
Tone Color: we use different instruments throughout the year that demonstrate this. Instruments such as, piano, electric keyboard, voices, recorders, omnichord, autoharp, guitar, Orff instruments (xylophones), rhythm instruments.
