With Value Statements

We, the Dansville Pre-K-5 educational community, are committed to providing a child-centered, developmentally appropriate environment in which children are challenged to continually learn. Our schools will build a foundation for academic, social, and emotional growth by:

Continuously working to improve student performance using informative, authentic assessments to guide instruction.

Value: We will develop standards-based authentic assessments, administer them with consistency, and examine student assessment results to guide future instruction.

Focusing on children’s strengths and needs to guide instruction.

Value: We will create flexible groupings based on current level of achievement and adapt instruction according to student learning needs.

Providing time for students and teachers to collaborate and reflect upon learning experiences.

Values: We will establish and maintain uninterrupted time for teacher collaboration and professional reflection.

We will infuse a variety of reflective techniques into instruction and provide multiple opportunities for student collaboration.

Creating an environment in which students and teachers confidently take the risks necessary for learning.

Value: We will establish and maintain a positive community of learners where all are challenged to take the risks necessary for student success. We will do this by respecting the ideas and opinions expressed by others and by recognizing and accepting that mistakes are a necessary part of risk-taking.

Value: We will recognize student and teacher successes as opportunities for celebration.
