Seat restoration blends old and new
The expansion of the Middle School has shown a beautiful
balance of honoring the history of the building and providing
for the educational needs of today’s students.
As the former high school, the auditorium holds a nostalgic
place in the hearts of many Dansville graduates. When
considering updating the seating of the auditorium, much care
and time was given to choosing the upholstery and finding a
careful balance between respecting the history of the facility
and meeting the necessary newer codes and desire for comfort.
The result is a new seat that features a wood and upholstered
back echoing the style and structure of the original model.
The end-caps that adorn the aisle seats have been painted black
with gold highlights and still feature the DHS logo, invoking
the building’s history. The seats will feature a more typical
flip-up style that allows for visitors to comfortably enjoy the
auditorium’s activities and events. Although the winter concert
season has passed and was performed in the high school, the
remainder of winter and spring activities will return to their
home for the middle school students.
