  • A consistent, comprehensive, and balanced curriculum aligned across grade levels and from one grade level to the next so all students in Dansville reach their highest potential is the goal of Curriculum and Instruction.  Careful assessment of student learning through formative assessment is used to continuously adjust instruction.

    At the elementary level, balanced literacy is the foundation of all curriculum and instruction. This involves instruction in reading (decoding, phonics, phonemic awareness, comprehension, and vocabulary) and writing (we are integrating Units of Study in writing K-8).
    At the secondary level, we have been developing and refining interim assessments to drive curriculum and instruction as well as department collaboration around student learning.

    Professional Learning is at the heart of effective teaching and learning. We seek to support the learning of our staff through grade level and district collaboration, in-house provided professional development, and attendance at outside professional seminars, conferences, meetings and collaboration around the region.
