Message from the Superintendent
Message from Interim Superintendent Thomas Kopp:
I’d like to introduce myself to everyone and share a bit of my background with all of you. I was in education for 38 years prior to my retirement at the end of June 2022. I taught first - fifth grade for 19 years and thought each grade level was my favorite while I was teaching at that grade level. I then became a Pre-K - sixth grade Principal for 4 years followed by 6.5 years as a Jr./Sr. High School Principal. My next stop in my journey was as a Director of Special Education for 2.5 years with my final stop on the marathon as a Superintendent for 6.5 years in Keshequa.
I would be hard pressed to choose which of my jobs I have enjoyed the most during my career. Each has had its own rewards. I can say that being an educator has been the best possible choice I could have made for my life! Impacting the present, and the future, of a child everyday is an awesome responsibility but also a tremendous and humbling experience – one that should never be taken for granted.
Over the next few months, I look forward to working with you as we help students be safe and to reach their full potential.
Message from Dr. Paul Alioto, retired superintendent Dec 2023:
Dear School Community Members and Visitors,
Welcome to Dansville Central Schools' website! We are very proud of our students and their accomplishments! We are also grateful for our dedicated family of educators and supportive families. Our faculty, staff, administrators, and School Board are committed to maintaining and growing unique learning experiences and programs. We embrace continuous renewal.
Dansville CSD has made a long term commitment to instilling leadership and citizenship qualities in our students. We teach leadership through service learning and through the Leader in Me program which is based upon Stephen Covey's groundbreaking 7 Habits of Highly Effective People.
Dansville CSD has completed nearly $30 million in new construction and renovations since 2012 including a new Physical Education and Sports Complex with synthetic turf, an eight lane track, and beautiful tennis and pickleball courts. In the high school, we have renovated our culinary and business classrooms and our auditorium. We have rebuilt our elementary music classrooms and our primary and elementary students are enjoying new playgrounds.
Dansville CSD is committed to our goal of maintaining our position as leaders in technology for learning. Our students have benefited from a mobile 1:1 computer learning environment since 2014-15. Computer literacy has evolved in Dansville and we are a "Common Sense Certified" district where we teach students to be skillful and wise users of technology and the internet. With the infusion of computer technology into all aspects of learning, we are better preparing students for postsecondary education, careers, and entrepreneurship.
Rural communities in Western NY, the Southern Tier, and the Finger Lakes regions face unique challenges. Dansville schools are rising above, meeting those challenges, and overcoming them. We view our schools as essential to community renewal and prosperity and we are very serious about preparing our students to be leaders for today and tomorrow.
