Digital Citizenship

Dear DCSD Community and Staff,

As we continue to embrace the transformative power of technology in education, it is crucial to foster a culture of responsible and ethical digital citizenship. I am excited to welcome you to our ongoing journey towards building a digitally literate and conscientious community.

What is Digital Citizenship? Digital citizenship goes beyond merely using technology; it's about navigating the digital world with responsibility, respect, and critical thinking. It encompasses a range of skills, including online safety, digital etiquette, and the ability to evaluate and engage with digital content thoughtfully.

Our Commitment: As the Technology Director for the Dansville School District, I am passionate about ensuring that our students, staff, and parents are equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to thrive in the digital age. Our commitment is to provide a safe, inclusive, and empowering digital environment for all members of our school community.

Empowering Our Community: We believe that digital citizenship is a shared responsibility. Whether you are a student, educator, or parent, your role is vital in shaping a positive and secure digital landscape. Through education, awareness, and ongoing support, we aim to empower each member of our community to be a responsible and informed digital citizen.

Resources and Support: Explore the resources on our website dedicated to digital citizenship, attend workshops, and stay connected with updates and tips. We are here to provide the support and tools you need to navigate the digital world confidently. We particularly like Common Sense Media as a resource for Digital Citizenship Curriculum and for resources for families in understanding and monitoring the digital world of their children.

Stay Connected: Join us in fostering a culture of digital responsibility and awareness. Follow our updates on digital citizenship initiatives, and share your insights and experiences with the community.

Thank you for your commitment to creating a digital community that reflects the values of responsibility, respect, and collaboration. Together, we can navigate the digital landscape with confidence and integrity.
