Goal 1 - By aligning with the Science of Reading and Data Analysis / Assessment development, the District seeks to improve curriculum and instruction and increase student achievement.
Student Achievement- The District will focus on using NYS and district data to improve curriculum and instruction, to provide effective classroom instruction, support and give feedback to students and their parents to with the overall goal to improve academic performance.
The includes:
1. Structured collaboration (teamwork) and professional learning to support student centered pedagogy
2. Students and classrooms setting WIGs (Wildly Important Goals) around student achievement in accordance with the Leader in Me..
3. Participation in Science of Reading aligned Professional Learning including Fundations, Science of Reading Series of 8 Introductory workshops and 8 advanced workshops, LETRS training, and UFLI as well as others through BOCES and outside sources.
4. Participation in Summer Science of Reading Professional Learning as well as coaching and professional learning during the school year with a literacy consultant.
5. Participation in professional learning with GV BOCES in data analysis and effective assessment development.
6. Collaboration in focusing on priority standards and monitoring student learning.
7. Aligning literacy instruction with the Science of Reading and NYSED Literacy Briefs across all content areas.
8. Use data to inform continuous cycle of improvement in curriculum, instruction, and assessment.
Student Performance - Student performance is measured formally 3 times per year:
- Primary Level: early literacy skills: phonics, phonemic awareness, letter and sound identification are measured with aimswebPlus. Data is analyzed and annual achievement goals are set. Early numeracy development is similarly measured with aimswebPlus. Teachers also use data from the Early Math Profile as well as the Early Literacy Profile.
- Elementary Level: Student performance in ELA and Math is measured and monitored with aimswebPlus. In addition teacher teams review NYS 3-6 ELA and Math assessment data.
- High School: Measurement continues with aimswelPlus in 7th and 8th grade. HS teachers monitor student performance with interim and midterm assessment. Regents examination data is analyzed each year.
