DCS to Present at ISTE

Dansville Central School's Kim Derrenbacher and Lynne Blum have been accepted to speak at the ISTE (International Society for Technology in Education) annual conference (called the ISTE Conference & Expo).

The accepted topic is Empowering and Exciting Girls to Excel in STEAM for Their Futures, based on the success of GETT (Girls Empowered Through Technology) camps originating in Dansville.

The ISTE Conference & Expo is recognized globally as the most comprehensive educational technology conference in the world. For more than three decades, educators and education leaders have gathered at the ISTE conference to engage in hands-on learning, exchange ideas and network with like-minded thinkers seeking to transform learning and teaching.

The annual event attracts over 16,000 international attendees and industry representatives, including teachers, technology coordinators, administrators, library media specialists, teacher educators and policymakers.

The 2018 ISTE Conference & Expo is in Chicago, Illinois in June 2018.

The acceptance rate, overall, for all proposals this year was 29.7% (over 3,000 submissions, with only 1,000 accepted). More than 80 teams of three to five educators each reviewed 30 to 40 proposals. Teams were made up of educators with 10 to 15 years of experience who are in a nationally recognized leadership position in their area of expertise.
