Parent Update 6/8/21

Hello families!

A few updates for you all this week.  This is our last full week of school!  Hard to believe!

I am attaching two flyers to this update.  One is a revised Cheer Clinic flyer – last week’s flyer had the wrong dates.  Please use this one for planning purposes if interested.  I am also attaching a virtual Father’s Day event flyer from CASA.  These events have been ongoing through the year and many of you have taken the opportunity to participate.  If interested, more information is on the flyer.

As we start to look to next year, we still have many unknowns as you know.  One is whether we will be offering a remote option again or not.  This affects so many things.  Because of the variety of unknown pieces for next year, we will not be telling students their next year teacher on their report cards on the last day. We have worked very hard to create drafts of class lists and will adjust as needed based on remote options if they are there, transfers, etc.  You will receive a letter at the beginning of August that will tell who your child will have next year.  We are also planning a Meet and Greet type of Open House (similar to last year) on September 1 so that students can come to the school, find their classrooms, and meet their teachers. More details about this will come in the summer. Most of our students are aware of the teachers so they will see familiar faces.  I am arranging with the incoming 3rd graders to help with their transition to a new building.  We know this is a change to usual practice but is necessary. Grade level supply lists will still come home with report cards, as we know many families like to shop early when sales are occurring.

Chromebooks will be kept at school beginning Thursday, June 17.  This means that all chargers also need to be returned. We will begin inventory and this helps ensure we have all devices.  If your family has a hotspot – please return that as well.  Fully remote learners will bring their devices, chargers and hotspots back to school on June 22 – teachers will give you specific details on timing, etc.  If that date does not work for your family, Wednesday and Thursday of that week will also be drop off times.

I hope everyone has a good rest of your week.
