Welcome to the 2026-27 School Year!

Welcome to the 2026–2027 school year! There is always something special about the beginning of a new school year—the return of students to our hallways, the excitement of reconnecting with friends, teachers and staff, and the opportunity to begin again with new goals and possibilities.  We are looking forward to welcoming our students back to our schools on Tuesday, September 8, 2026.

This year is particularly meaningful for Dansville Central School District. As we welcome our students back, we are also beginning a year filled with new programs, new traditions, continued improvements to our schools, and a celebration of 100 years of Dansville pride.

A Few Back-to-School Reminders

As everyone settles back into the school routine, we appreciate your patience and cooperation with our parent drop-off and pick-up procedures. Please use the designated parent drop-off loop, follow posted traffic patterns and staff directions, and take a little extra time during the first several days of school. Our procedures are designed to keep students safe and traffic moving as efficiently as possible.

You may also notice a colorful new tradition in our parking lot! For the first time, members of the Class of 2027 have painted their assigned parking spaces. These spaces belong to our seniors for the school year, so we ask families, visitors, and staff to please not park in any of the painted senior spaces. We are excited to give our seniors this opportunity to leave a little bit of their personality and Mustang spirit on campus.

New This Year: Saunders SOAR — “The Closet”

We are incredibly pleased to begin a new partnership with The Saunders Foundation through the Saunders SOAR program. “The Closet” will provide students in need with access to essential items including clothing, sneakers, backpacks, coats, blankets, personal hygiene products, and other necessities. Students will also have access to a washer and dryer at school when needed.

This program represents something important about our community: we take care of one another. We are grateful to The Saunders Foundation for partnering with Dansville to remove barriers and make sure our students have what they need to feel comfortable, confident, and ready to learn. Families who may benefit from the program are encouraged to reach out to the contacts identified on the Saunders SOAR flyer or complete the confidential needs form.

Celebrating 100 Years of Dansville

This year also marks an extraordinary milestone—our Centennial Celebration!  In December 1926, the NYS Education Department issued Dansville CSD’s charter, establishing individual schoolhouses within our geographical boundaries into a consolidated school district.  We will officially kick off our Centennial festivities on Saturday, September 12, during Dansville’s Second Saturday at the Dansville Public Library. Throughout the year, we look forward to celebrating our history, reconnecting with alumni and community members, sharing memories, and recognizing the generations of students, educators, families, and community members who have made Dansville what it is today.

Welcome, Deputy Matt Moran

We are also pleased to welcome Deputy Matt Moran, our new School Resource Deputy. Deputy Moran will be a visible and engaged member of our school community, working alongside our students, staff, administrators, and families. The role of our School Resource Deputy extends well beyond school safety—it is also about building relationships, developing trust, and being a positive presence for our students. Please join us in giving Deputy Moran a warm Mustang welcome!

Our Schools Continue to Improve – Capital Project Updates

Families returning to campus will also see continued progress on our capital improvement work. These projects represent a significant investment in the future of Dansville Central Schools and in the learning environments our students and staff experience every day.

Some improvements are immediately visible, while other important work is happening behind the scenes. As projects continue throughout the year, we appreciate everyone's patience with temporary disruptions in construction areas. Most importantly, we are excited about what these improvements will mean for our students and community for many years to come.

Again, Welcome Back!

The first day of school is more than the beginning of another calendar year. For a child  walking through our doors for the first time, a senior beginning the final chapter of their Dansville experience, and every student in between, it is a fresh start.

Thank you to our families for the trust you place in us each day. Thank you to our faculty and staff for the extraordinary care they give our students. And thank you to the Dansville community for continuing to support our schools.
